random
- potatoes... roasted, scalloped, in curries, whatever.
- cupcakes... that word brings into mind thick, sickeningly sweet, heavy pink frosting. sends chills down my spine. next time you offer me a cupcake, tell me it's a muffin.

food porn (cass 2005)
- sauté lots of chopped garlic till it's brown
- add cold pre-cooked rice, stir & mix well
- stir in eggs (make sure each grain of rice is nicely coated)
- splash fish sauce according to taste
- stir in prawns (mum's advice: put prawns on 1 side of the pan 1st, separate from rice, then mix everything up when the prawns are slightly cooked)
- sprinkle dried basil bits or add basil paste (to taste) & stir
- serve!
more kimchi - this time it's stir fried with sliced pork
the recipe:
- sauté chopped garlic & sliced pork (seasoned with pepper, soy sauce)
- add kimchi
- stir until kimchi gravy has evaporated a little
- serve!
p.s: "food porn" - coined by dear ol' blur cass... she admitted that she drools over pictures of food when those cravings or hunger pangs hit. =)

this time, it's thai

sue's pad thai specially made on my request (pad thai is like spicy fried flat noodles with prawns, bean sprouts, chillies, eggs and usually tossed with chopped peanuts) but this one was without the peanuts 'cause i just can't stand them =)
the recipe:
- buy pad thai sauce
- follow instructions on packet / bottle
dada's kar phow / spicy minced pork with basil leaves, also cooked specially for me... i even had my own private plate of this!
isn't it just bursting out of the page with it's mouth-watering juicy goodness? (click on picture for full effect)
the recipe
- marinate minced pork with light soy sauce (to taste)
- meanwhile, heat oil and add chopped fresh chillies and garlic
- sauté until fragrant
- add pork then stir in thick soy sauce, fish sauce and sugar (to taste)
- add basil leaves, stir some more
- remove from heat once basil leaves are 'wilted'
isolated tower
far from civilization
where the lift not breaking down on a regular basis is considered odd
where you can get lost on a floor even though it's all just one big cylinder
and in its underground maze

korean relish... and a kimchi overdose
one of the clearer pictures (the lighting was just terrible, the other photos were just blurs of red & orange)
this is the beef bulgogi.
yeah, go ahead. drool.
from the top:
- that's half of me
- fried kimchi (kimchi + sliced pork) topped with sunny side up egg on steamed rice
- side dishes anti-clockwise from top left - sesame oil seasoned cucumber slices, some sweet chilli zucchini with onion thing, more kimchi only this one is cold and finally some omelette slices
- and the beef bulgogi.
not in the picture: kimchi chigae / hotpot (yes, more kimchi) and the rice that comes with the bulgogi and... (non-food) 'gorgeous moonface'
quote of the day: "hurry up and take the picture, before i finish it"
-moonface-

illuminating tables

table set up for charity function café international (of which i was in charge of its table decorations committee)
*sniff sniff*
i'm so proud of my 'babies' - after all the sleepless nights of ironing table runners, brainstorming, cutting, ordering little 'minions' around and stressing out etc... my 'babies' turned out perfect, all 26 tables...

pictured is the entrée: tandoori shrimp wrapped in vietnamese rice paper roll on chillied asparagus with a side shot of thick mango lassi.

everything was handmade from scratch, by the way
