violet eyes (sing to the tune of hungry eyes from dirty dancing)

Your Eyes Should Be Violet

Your eyes reflect: Mystery and allure

What's hidden behind your eyes: A quiet passion

random

2 evil things:
  1. potatoes... roasted, scalloped, in curries, whatever.
  2. cupcakes... that word brings into mind thick, sickeningly sweet, heavy pink frosting. sends chills down my spine. next time you offer me a cupcake, tell me it's a muffin.

food porn (cass 2005)

for my 1st ever solo cooking adventure (i've always only helped to stir & that too with close supervision), i chose to try my hand at...

teppanyaki inspired basil fried rice with eggs, prawns & truckloads of garlic (no kidding, my friends were staring at me with saucer sized eyes)

the recipe:
  • sauté lots of chopped garlic till it's brown
  • add cold pre-cooked rice, stir & mix well
  • stir in eggs (make sure each grain of rice is nicely coated)
  • splash fish sauce according to taste
  • stir in prawns (mum's advice: put prawns on 1 side of the pan 1st, separate from rice, then mix everything up when the prawns are slightly cooked)
  • sprinkle dried basil bits or add basil paste (to taste) & stir
  • serve!

more kimchi - this time it's stir fried with sliced pork

the recipe:

  • sauté chopped garlic & sliced pork (seasoned with pepper, soy sauce)
  • add kimchi
  • stir until kimchi gravy has evaporated a little
  • serve!

p.s: "food porn" - coined by dear ol' blur cass... she admitted that she drools over pictures of food when those cravings or hunger pangs hit. =)
